I'm going to take the cue from Nikki and blog. And I'm going to make lists for you.haha. Not because Nikki made that seemingly impossible to-do list of hers, but because I just so happen to like making lists. Seriously. I have notebooks specially reserved for list-making. 2008. That was the last time I blogged. And it was about ballet. No one likes reading about ballet. Except me. 2008 was a long time ago, to me at least. In fact, it was so long ago that I actually forgot how to start a blog. I had to click 10 links before I found the page where you write stuff in (What do you call that page?) A lot has happened since June 2008. A LOT. 1) I moved school. From Delia (Broadway) to Renaissance College. That certainly was not easy. I moved into a totally different environment. AND a totally different curriculum. The International Baccalaureate or THE IB. It's not as wonderful as it may sound. The work I had to do back in Delia is NOTHING compared to what I have to do now, or next year. For instance, I now have to write papers for PE! Who writes papers for PE?! Apparently, I do. I am now extremely familiar with the concept of stress. You cannot do the IB without at least having one all-nighter. My guilty pleasure is now just doing nothing at all. When you have 5 papers due the next week, its definitely a pleasure to do nothing. Okay. It's starting to sound like a horrible place to be in, but its not. I actually like working, unlike some people. Other than that, I like my teachers.(Except my Design Technology teacher, no one likes him.) They are extremely funny and interesting in their own way. When I say funny, I mean REALLY FUNNY. I've made some new friends too. Surprising, eh? Oh and my school actually has a library, with books in it!And the library has sofas. That pitiful library in my old school had so little books that I read almost all of them during my tenure there. Things I like about school. (You're probably thinking, what a nerd. To that I'd say: Yeah, I know right?) - SOfas. There are sofas outside the classrooms and in the library. - I get to use laptop in class. hahaha. Extremely useful when you're bored in class. - The uniform. It does not look like a uniform. - Ipods. You can actually rent an Ipod from school. Weirdly enough, everyone has one. - BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS. in the library - Food. I love the salad bar and the coffee shop. - Drama and English. My favourtie classes. - Random holidays. Plus, our holidays always start early. - My legs have gotten so much stronger. Why? Because of all the stairs. First thing you do when you get to school is climb stairs. To get to class you have to take the stairs. Thus, stronger legs. Yippee. 2) I started taking modern dance classes. I love it. I love it as much as I love ballet. I love it because it lets you be more creative with your body. This is excatly what I was looking for as a balance to all that extremely high discipline work I do in ballet class. My ballet class does not give me much room for individuality since it follows the R.A.D. curriculum that Hong Kong seems to love so much. I wish they would do the Russian style of ballet. It has so much more flair and elegance. That resulted to my rebellious nature in my ballet class. I do not tell my teacher off or anything like that, but I just add a little of my individualty to it.You know, like a little more power, flair or elegance. And when I say I add a little more flair, power and elegance to it. I mean like lifting your indes finger a bit more, lifting your chin just a little bit higher or moving your arms more a little more naturally. Its not like I'm changing to whole anatomy of the step. Ballet looks amazing when its done naturally. All my classmates are these girls that give you these wierd looks when I try some move that I just made up. PAH. Like it wasn't a dance class. Oh and my teacher wants us to all do it the same way. You know how much I hate being the same as everybody else. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE BALLET. I do not like the R.A.D, they have no individuality. Russians are just so sexy. More specifically the ballerinas. See Galina Ulanova, Maya Plisetskaya, Ekaterina Maximova and Anna Pavlova. They simply take the cake. If you have time check these links out, and tell me if you still think that ballerinas are delicate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPAiiYZ7_RE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ0L24YbGGI&feature=channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz2Gp7a38DM&feature=channel_page http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGsoTJvzzbs&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUrJuSh0evE&feature=related 3) I turned 15. 4) I was in a bus accident that killed two motorcylce riding people. I survived. Thank You God.
5) This is the year in which I experienced the most stress, pain and trouble. That is why this is the year in which I realized how truly AMAZING God is. When I was awake at 3 in the morning finishing an essay or when I'm just so frustrated with everything, he just keeps reminding me that its going to be all right and that the sun is going to come up tomorrow. Your troubles are trivial when it comes to God. Your problems are CRAP, BECAUSE GOD IS ALL YOU NEED. For the past several months God has been reminding me that He holds my world, my future, my life in his hand. And WHATEVER YOU DESIRE, ASK AND YOU WILL RECIEVE. Though I fall, I will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord holds my hand. Psalm 37:24 I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my strong hold; I will never be shaken. Psalms 62:1-2 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 What I listen to these days
Music by: - Carla Bruni - Edith Piaf - Frank Sinatra - Adele - Duffy - Brooke Fraser - Beethoven - Claude Debussy - Katy Perry - Rod Stewart - Strauss Here's the list of things I need to do for school. I try not to procrasinate. It's probably shorter than Nikki's, but they take long to complete. 1) Physics Test - on Waves and Optics. I HATE PHYSICS. IT'S LIKE MATH. My class begged our teacher to have it postponed, and he did!!! 2) Design Technology Project - I have to make a web page. You do not want to hear about the investigating, planning and evaluating that goes along with it.urgh. due next week. 3) English - Read Macbeth, Finish Act 1 & 2. Identify figures of speech in Act 1. This assignment isn't too bad. I love reading. 4) Physics - ONE World poster 5) Math - Investigation. Trigonometry. BLAH. 6) PE - Basketball Paper. Write about the history, development etc..Seriously. A paper on basketball??!! Playing basketball in PE isn't too bad. Sure I've gotten hit in the face few times but then that always happens to me doesn't it? Basketball is way better than playing volleyball in PE, all I could do was serve the ball. At least with basketball I get to run and steal balls etc etc. and get hit in the face. 7) Drama - Political Theatre Paper. This paper has four parts: - Writing about political theatre, what it is, history, people etc. - Create a political theatre piece - Refelect and Evaluate on the Political Theatre Unit and how you have developed as a person - Reflect on artistic awareness and personal engagement. All that is supposed to be no more that 10,000 words. And it's due the same day my basketball paper is due !!!!! in less than 2 weeks!! 8)English - Print out long forgotten English Presentation Reflection. 9) Choose DP(Diploma Program)subjects and get them approved by current teachers. This is not an easy task. My teachers tend to be hard to find after school, but I managed to track them all down anyway. I thought they would all not approve of my choices, but it turns out that they all do. My Diploma Options.( HAH. another list!!) Highers - Theatre - History - English T.H.E !! Get it?? You don't need to. Just laugh and pretend you understand. That's what I do. Standards - Spanish - Math Studies - Biology The funniest thing I've heard so far is from the humanities teachers while they were introducing subjects to us : They all think that the subject they teach is the best. ever. Mr. Thomas(Business & Management teacher): "what's that thing again that happened 6 months ago in China, was it the women coming across to have their babies in HK?" Ms. Wickins(Geography teacher): THATS GEOGRAPHY! THATS GEOGRAPHY! Mr. Field (History teacher): AND THE FACT THAT IT HAPPENED SIXXXX MONTHS AGO, MAKES IT HISTORY!!! Year 11: Laughs their heads off. I cannot wait for: - Spring break or easter break - Summer vacation - Work Exprience - Year 12 & 13 (I'm dreading it as well...) - Nikki to come back - Louie to come back - My Physics term to end and start my biology term - Switch to another Design Technology teacher. My to do list probably isn't as long as Nikki's but who cares???heheh. Much love Gail? |
